If you’re a keen lawn bowler then there’s a well-kept secret in Waikiki that you’re going to want to know about…the Honolulu Lawn Bowls Club.
The small group of members make visitors feel incredibly welcome and they are equally accommodating for beginners or experienced bowlers.
Located in Ala Moana Park, it’s hidden behind beige coloured brick walls and can be accessed from Ala Moana Park Drive. It’s about 1.5 hrs walk from central Waikiki, a 5 minute drive or you can get any of the buses that go along Ala Moana Blvd. Just hop off at the first Ward Centre stop (when you’ll see the tennis courts on your left) or it’s a 10 minute walk from Ala Moana Shopping Centre.
The main play day is Saturday morning and it’s only $7 to enjoy a roll up. Simply be there by around 9.30am and they have bowls that you can use – the bowls are the old style but they suit the green well. You’ll have a lot of fun bowling while looking out over the nearby beach – take your swimming costume for a refreshing dip in the ocean after the game!
