“If my dogs can surf, so can you!” That’s Nancy Emerson’s School of Surfing promise and you’ll find out very quickly, it’s true. Nancy is a former world champion surfer and she’s been teaching others how to master the sport since 1973.

It all started on her home island of Maui, when she got a job at the Maui Surf Hotel that led to the opportunity to give guests private surfing lessons. Since then Nancy has taught surfing in Japan, California, Florida, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Fiji, Marshall Islands, Australia, and of course her beloved Hawaii. Her newest school is now open on Kauai and a return to Maui is in the pipeline.

When chatting with Nancy it’s immediately obvious that she has a deep-set love of surfing, but her personal journey also illustrates that she’s never been one to shy away from new challenges. Her impressive CV includes Hollywood stuntwoman, film producer, location manager, professional lifeguard, surf teacher, coach and businesswoman. Plus Nancy is a living legend in the world of international surfing and she was a pioneer competitor on the Woman’s World Professional Tour.
